Protectors-Chapter 2

Protector

That night Kayla lay awake in her bed thinking about what she heard,
"What does it mean?" she asked herself. She kept looking at the broach, "Those people said that I would feel the words inside me."
"I don't feel anything, except a tiny bit dizzy from that earthquake." Kayla stayed awake until sleep came and overtook her, then she slowly drifted off, thoughts about today still in her mind.
The next morning Kayla went to walk to the mall with Meg and Sarah, "Hey, are you ready to go?" asked Sarah.
"Yeah, I'll be down in a second," Kayla called back. While she was getting ready Elliot walked by,
"Hi, is Kayla in?" he asked,
"Yeah, she'll be down in a minute, we're going to the mall," Meg replied, "but if you want to talk to her we can wait a while."
"Could you?" he asked, "I just want to ask her a quick question, then I'll be on my way."
"No problem," said Sarah. Just then Kayla came down and spotted Elliot,
"Elliot, hi," she said to him, "what are you doing here?"
"I just wanted to say that I'm sorry that we had to end yesterday early, but I have tickets to the new spy museum that just opened down the street," asked Elliot, "and I was wondering if you wanted to go with me this Saturday?" he asked.
"Of course I would, and, don't be sorry, it wasn't your fault after all, you couldn't help it."
"Great, bye."
"Bye, see you on next Monday too, that is when break ends, right?" asked Kayla.
“Right, can't wait,” said Elliot, and he ran off. when he left Kayla looked at her friends, who were staring at her,
"What?" asked Kayla.
All the way to the mall Meg and Sarah kept talking about Kayla and Elliot.
"I can't believe he asked you out again."
"He must really like you." And the whole time Kayla just kept blushing. When they got to the mall they went all over buying whatever they could get their hands on at every store. But on their way to the jewelry shop a strange looking man passed by them and at that moment Kayla felt something in her hand, she looked down and she saw a note, it read:

MEET ME IN THE PARK AT 5
I WILL EXPLAIN MORE
- MARK

Right then Kayla was sure that whatever she saw yesterday was real, but she wasn't sure if she should go to meet Mark or not. Hours passed and Kayla kept pacing herself wondering if she should go,
"I could go and learn more about this, but it could be a trap to kidnap me, nobody's usually in the park at 5:00, but then how would they know about the dream, ohh, this is so confusing," she kept telling herself, then she looked at the pendant once again, then all of a sudden Minna popped out, "You should go, it's not a trap, it may seem unreal, but it's the truth," she told Kayla, then it struck 5, she decided that she should take a chance to go and see if whatever Mark and Lewis said was true.
When she got to the park Kayla looked around to see anyone, then she heard a voice behind her,
"Are you looking for me?" she turned, in front of her stood a man, he looked just a few years older than her, and he was taller than her too. He also had short black hair, and he seemed very casual,
"I'm Mark, sorry for being so suspicious, Lewis insisted it so that no one knows about our secret, but I still don't get it," he said, "oh, sorry, I'll explain more at the cafe."
"What cafe?" she asked.
"You'll see," said Mark. When they reached their destination Kayla saw a little shop and on the sign it said:

GRAND OPENING TOMORROW

"This is where you will be working part- time from now on, this will also serve as our base," said Mark, "hmm, where's Lewis, oh well, sorry, he should be down in a minute, oh, here he is now." descending from the stairs was a boy just a little bit older than Mark, he had long brown hair tied in a ponytail,
"Hi, sorry I'm late," he turned to Kayla, "I'm Lewis, Mark explained everything else, but there's just one more thing, and that's all you have to know for now. The Crusaders, the force that's trying to take over the Earth, they send monsters, called Demon Workers, and they are these monsters are controlled by the Crusaders, and they are sent to eliminate humans so they can take over, so your job is to defeat the Demon Workers, then the Crusaders, then lastly, you have to defeat their leader, but remember, you also have to find the other protectors. You have power over reality, you can change the reality of somebody, and only you and the other protectors can go inside it. You can also turn you and people around you invisible. The last power you have is one all of the protectors have, telepathy, you can speak to each other through your mind, you just have to have the place that the person is at, and the the picture of that person in your head, and you will talk to them."
"Let's leave that subject for now," said Mark, "right now, why don't you go and try on your uniform." he was holding up a sort of light purple dress, with a bow on the top part of it, and on the back and a white apron to go over it, and on the bottom corner of the dress there was the name of the cafe, and on the top part on the apron it had her name on it,
"The locker room's right through there" said Lewis pointing. All of a sudden there was a loud crash and everybody was screaming, Kayla, Mark, and Lewis ran outside to see what the commotion was, there, standing in front of them was a giant lion, and once he saw them he was shooting a huge ball of fire in their direction, but they kept dodging every blow he threw at them,
"that's a Demon Worker, quick, use the broach, shout, Protector Earth, transform, and turn into Protector Earth," said Lewis. Kayla pulled out the broach, and she suddenly shouted,
"PROTECTOR EARTH, TRANSFORM!" then in just a matter of seconds she transformed, she was wearing a blue girl's collar shirt with a purple bow on her chest, and back, with a purple skirt and pink long boots, she had cut off sleeves on her arms, she also had a star on her fore head.
"Now use your Power Wand, and say, Earth Flash Power," said Mark, and then, Kayla shouted,
"POWER WAND, EARTH FLASH POWER!" and in a matter of seconds the monster was gone and peace was restored.
"Great job, you did it, you defeated the monster," said Mark, "but don't let it get to your head, remember, you'll have to face more, and they'll keep on getting tougher."
"Man," she whined, "well, I guess I'm stuck doing it.”
